CUPRA revolutionises the virtual world with Metahype , the open island for collaboration and socialisation in the metaverse. It is an innovative and interactive exploration space presented at CUPRA's Exponential Impulse event in Berlin.
As we can see in the video, there are several ways to edit your avatar and your CUPRA car, as well as a map that you can explore as if it were a video game. On the map we can see three areas: the Metahype square, the CUPRA districts and Primavera Sound.

This space is made up of different districts and common areas that can be owned by brands, startups and creators to connect and interact with new generations.
CUPRA and its new space in the metaverse
At Metahype, users begin their experience in the main plaza, where they are given their Metahype Passport, a non-fungible token (NFT) representing each Hyper. CUPRA has created an innovative system based on video games, which rewards users with Hypes based on their level of activity and engagement within the platform.
One of the main attractions of Metahype is CUPRA Next , a space where users can interact and influence the future of CUPRA. Here, they are given the opportunity to personalise their own virtual version of the CUPRA DarkRebel , a sports car, using the Hyper Configurator tool.

“Metahype has officially arrived. It is a space not only for CUPRA, but also for brands, startups and creators to connect with the next generation. It provides a unique brand experience and engagement, with the aim of connecting different communities to unleash their creativity and collaborative power,” said Sven Schuwirth, COO of CUPRA . “With this project we want to redefine the way people live experiences and feel emotions, beyond the limits of the physical world; this is what we call ‘Exponential You’.”

Wildbytes creates an immersive experience in the metaverse to design the new CUPRA sports car. The first prototype presented in the CUPRA metaverse, called the CUPRA DarkRebel, embodies the brand’s challenging and unconventional spirit, with an emotional and high-performance approach. This vehicle represents the CUPRA brand DNA in a limitless and provocative way, and its design is a dialogue rather than a predictive process.

Wayne Griffiths, CUPRA CEO , said: “After five years of building the CUPRA brand in today’s world, it’s time to think about the next step. Our next dream. The CUPRA DarkRebel is the ultimate interpretation of our vision.”
The CUPRA DarkRebel is a sports prototype with a shooting brake body featuring sharp lines and the brand's iconic triangular light signature. The front design is sharp and radical, with a long bonnet and a spine connecting the front and rear of the car. The interior of the vehicle is driver-oriented, with progressive bucket seats, a sports steering wheel and a gear selector to connect the human with the machine.

The CUPRA Hyper Configurator provides tools for the CUPRA Tribe to express themselves and create their own versions of the concept car, and influence the final design of a physical model to be unveiled in the near future.
The Hyper Configurator offers three distinct environments – Exponential Square , Exponential Cube and Exponential Infinity – where users can personalise the CUPRA DarkRebel Concept. The Exponential Square environment is inspired by natural elements such as minerals and stones, while the Exponential Cube is designed for those who love racing, with a neon digital aesthetic and parametric geometries. The Exponential environment is surreal and unknown, with no physical restrictions, and dominated by an ethereal feel.
“With the CUPRA DarkRebel, we seek to go beyond the limitations of materiality and expand car design towards the intangible, intensifying the experience. The possibilities of the virtual world enhance creativity, stimulate the imagination and heighten the senses,” says Sven Schuwirth, COO of CUPRA.
CUPRA announced Metahype in advance last year and unveiled the five unique japan number screening spaces that make up the CUPRA Metahype District, as well as their related experiences:
CUPRA Plaza: the meeting point for the CUPRA Tribe, to connect and socialise.
CUPRA Racing: a place to experience the brand's racing DNA, with two games that test users' driving skills.
CUPRA Metahype City Garage: an area to discover and explore CUPRA models, meet CUPRA Masters and get to know the new CUPRA Tavascan.
CUPRA Hub: the space where we show that CUPRA goes beyond the automotive world. Here it is possible to browse the CUPRA Collection Boutique or take part in a dance challenge organised by Primavera Sound.
CUPRA Next: the place where users can influence the future design of the CUPRA DarkRebel.

Collaboration is at the heart of Metahype , and since its inception, Primavera Sound has been one of the first brands to join the project. As part of its contribution, Primavera Sound will provide musical content and introduce a gamified DJ academy , designed to inspire the next generation of music fans. More partners are expected to join the platform soon.
