Shoppable Image Ads from GoogleGoogle has introduced a new type of ad unit that will allow advertisers to display shoppable images on publisher websites. Google Shoppable Image Ads are banner ads that allow shoppers to see prices and items for sale in an image .

For advertisers, Google’s Shoppable Image Ads are an opportunity to put their product in front of the eyes of targeted audiences. According to Google, one-third of shoppers look for images before purchasing: “ A third of shoppers said they looked for images before going to the store to buy. The growth of street style and online influencers shows the movement toward searching for lifestyle images for visual inspiration .”

Google Shoppable Image Ads aren’t the only new addition to Google Ads. Google is rolling out another space for sellers to expand the footprint of their video assets. This type of content is displayed in the featured image position. After clicking on the ad, the video plays in full at the top of the Google-hosted landing page. A space that features a selection of products from the advertiser’s product feed.

According to Google , when it comes to finding new products and narrowing down their choices, nearly two-thirds of shoppers say online video has given them ideas for their next purchases . And more than 90% of these people say they’ve discovered new products and brands through YouTube.
