Key learning
Facebook ads are an efficient way for an NGO like Oxfam Novib to invest in a structural basis to build on. Investing in recruiting fans is investing in people, who each become online ambassadors of our story.
The ultimate goal of Oxfam Novib is to go beyond just spreading the story about the food crisis. This fall, we will experiment with how we can take digital mobilization to the next level. Our ultimate goal is to mobilize our online supporters, to join us in increasing public pressure on governments and companies.
Key learning
Our initial goal was to grow our online following and reach more people. That is just the first step. The big challenge now is to mobilize these people to a greater involvement, so that our online following goes beyond a simple like or share. This challenge again requires an innovative use of online resources and a creative approach to content. So no time for us to sit back, but to steam ahead to the next challenge!
Paid options are used to boost your message. Within LinkedIn, there are various paid options, including text ads, homepage takeovers and sponsored polls – or a combination of options. To boost your message, you need to make sure your company page is set up well. When you advertise, people will click on your company name or search for you – so make sure your company or brand has a good face on LinkedIn.
Owned media on LinkedIn
With owned media, your goal is to create thought leadership within your target audience. LinkedIn groups are great for this. Martine says it’s important to not just promote your own products or services, the idea is to get a discussion going. Martine says Philips’ LinkedIn group, “ Innovations in Health ,” is a great example of thought leadership.
Another good example of owned media is the senegal phone data representation of your employees on LinkedIn. Martine gives some good tips in the video.
Earned media on LinkedIn
Within LinkedIn there are many different options to apply 'earned'. Think for example of getting or giving recommendations and group activities (which you can integrate into your own website).
