Small premise: the whole first part of this article will not be focused on Wordpress, this is because some necessary operations cannot be performed with Wordpress or with plugins. If you already know these steps, go directly to point number 2.
How old is the domain? Who owns it?
To get a basic overview of a website, you need to know who the current owner is, when the domain was created, and when it expires. The age of a domain is a factor that somehow affects the ranking of the website. We can check all this information using the free online tool Whois .
The tool is very simple, just enter the domain name into the purchase shareholder database box and press "Search" .
Whois Tool: Check the age of a domain
The scan result will report a whole series of information. The ones that interest us are mainly:
IP Address: the IP address of the hosting server where the domain resides. The tool shows, in case of shared hosting, how many other domains are parked inside the server
IP Location: Indicates the location of the server and the hosting provider
Created Date: domain registration date
Expire Date: domain expiration date
Registrant: The legal owner of the domain
From this information we can first understand on which hosting the website resides and guess if it is a quality hosting or not, furthermore we can see if the actual owner of the website is the client himself or the web agency that managed the domain. This is important because in the event that it is necessary to migrate the domain to a new hosting and if the owner is the old agency, I assure you that they will not be so collaborative in providing you with the transfer codes and the client must know this.
Once we have collected this information, we export it and save it in our SEO Report .
