1# The importance of the conversion funnel
In order for you to understand how Facebook awareness campaigns work, it is important to understand what a conversion funnel is and what it consists of . You may already be familiar with this concept, but let's take a quick break to explain it again and refresh your knowledge.

The conversion funnel represents the phases that the user goes through from finding your product until purchasing it. This funnel is made up of three phases: TOFU (Top of the funnel), MOFU (middle of the funnel) and BOFU (bottom of the funnel).

TOFU is the initial phase of the consumer journey . It begins when the user detects that they have a need and starts to perform generic searches for information to solve it. Interest in this phase is manifested with uncertainty because the user is not yet clear about the possible solutions to their need.

In the MOFU phase, the consumer already knows what type of products or services can help them satisfy their needs and is evaluating the different options that the market offers, including yours.

And finally, the BOFU stage is the lowest part of the conversion funnel and is made up of users who have already considered all the available options they have on the market and are interested in specifically purchasing your product.

Facebook campaigns that aim to “Recognition” are focused on the audience at the top of the funnel, that is, those who don’t know you yet. The main objective of these campaigns is to get as many people as possible to know you and for the public to start to become familiar with who you are and what you offer.
