Italian developer Bending Spoons acquires Evernote

Post by Decjkf »

Milan-based Italian developer Bending Spoons has acquired popular app Evernote . A pioneer in digital note management, Evernote has been struggling with rapid changes in the industry, offering very few functional updates in recent years.

Evernote CEO Ian Smalls shared via the company's official israel girl whatsapp number media that "for Evernote, this decision is the next strategic step on our path to being an extension of your brain (…). By teaming up with Bending Spoons we are accelerating the delivery of improvements to our team, professional, personal and free offerings."

Bending Spoons' acquisition is somewhat of a surprise. Evernote went from being a leading SaaS product in 2013, valued at nearly $1 billion, to being in serious trouble. Since those golden years, the tool has faced major hurdles in developing features that would allow it to compete with the new names, most notably Notion .

The inability to develop new features has been a symptom of serious internal problems, publicly defined by the resignations of executives and the closure of several offices globally.

For its part, Bending Spoons explains its acquisition as part of a larger-scale strategy, a move that adds a new (and capable) product to its current SaaS selection. Its current software portfolio includes products like Splice (a mobile video editor), Remini (mobile AI software that restores and enhances photos), and 30 Day Fitness, also for mobile devices.

Bending Spoons CEO Luca Ferrari said the studio's proprietary technologies will be implemented in Evernote over the coming months and years to enhance the tool's capabilities. Details of the purchase, such as the cost of the acquisition, have been kept private.

On a personal note, I must say that I look forward to seeing Evernote evolve and become an exciting product. It was one of the first tools I used personally and professionally. Evernote was the go-to place for all my information for several years from 2010 onwards and I was sorry when I had to let go of the tool. Curious to see what the future holds for Evernote.
