Experts have called for "a certain maturity" in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to maximise the benefits of Corporate Volunteering for Development, according to the conclusions of a study carried out by the Codespa Foundation.

The document, entitled 'Ideas to maximize the benefits of Corporate Volunteering for Development', is the result of two working breakfasts that Codespa and BCG held last February in Madrid and Barcelona, ​​in which nearly 50 companies, NGOs and experts in CSR and Corporate Volunteering participated.

The meeting analysed the benefits and main challenges and opportunities generated by this type of programme and the actors involved in these initiatives. Codespa recalls in a statement that a corporate volunteering programme for development is an initiative promoted by the company to facilitate its employees' volunteering in developing countries.

Employees are thus offered the opportunity to pass on their professional knowledge and experience to projects aimed at improving the quality of life of low-income communities in developing areas.

«CLEAR BENEFITS»

Overall, the study participants agreed that there are "clear benefits" to this type of program, which, in their opinion, "should be integrated into the company's Corporate Social Responsibility."

Regarding the challenges faced by teacher data managers of this type of program in companies, the "complexity of obtaining support from the management" of the organization to achieve its momentum is highlighted. In this sense, the participants have pointed out that it is "essential" to define the specific objectives of the program at its beginning, as well as the indicators that will measure the results obtained.

They also considered that if this type of program is proposed as a strategic tool, "the investment in time, money and resources can be profitable."
