For better or worse, one of the defining characteristics of an American workforce used to be that we never left our desks. We were considered to be workaholics, always obsessed with the next project, the next deadline, and the next contract. Yet now, when I talk to my friends abroad, they seem stretched thin by the same fast-paced pace that had marked us for more than two generations. With the exception of perhaps Brazil, where a good conversation is always valued more than the next appointment, we seem to have lost the ability to switch off. Worse, we are being professional with extreme fatigue and not even realizing it.

It relieves stress, it’s meditative, and I produce things outside of the process that makes me happy. And it’s not work.”

I couldn't agree more with Harmeet. Spend some time doing something you enjoy outside of the work context. This is particularly true if you are in a difficult position where a lot of your time is required. Don't get to a point where you dread going to your desk and turning on your computer - that's a sign that you need to get your mind in another direction.
