110 Predictions for the Next 110 Years

Post by Arzina333 »

I don't really like lists like that. Although I can appreciate some of the diligent attempts. But there is one kind of list that I do like, namely the lists that institutes and magazines in the field of new technology venture into: the future predictions in the field of technology.

This year I was once again treated to the most diverse wild predictions. Where the MIT technology review kept itself somewhat level-headed with the prediction that 2013 will be the year of the internet of things , the technology institute IBM dares to go a lot further. In their famous 5 in 5 they describe five technological developments that will become reality in the coming five years. For example, they predict that computers will also be equipped with 'senses' in the coming years. From now on, for example, when buying a new dress you will be able to feel the fabric on your screen via your smartphone and odor sensors will be able to detect an excess of carbon monoxide in a hospital.

The website Popular Mechanisms goes much further with its 110 predictions for the next 110 years . Divided into three periods, it paints a world that makes me both wildly excited and a little scared. Some examples: in 2012-2022 chemotherapy will be much more effective due to nanoparticles, bridges will repair themselves with self-healing cement, passwords will no longer exist, drug addiction will be eradicated by vaccines and data will be measured in zettabytes.

By 2023-2062, all 130 million books on the planet will be kuwait phone data digitized, decaffeinated coffee beans will be growing, we will be fed by vertical local urban farms while we view it all through our terminator lenses. And by 2063-2122, life expectancy will have increased to 150 years and we will all have chips in our bodies that allow us to record data while we sleep, lose weight, and walk around virtual worlds “for real.”

Glasses, stamps and keys are no longer necessary
Things that will definitely disappear in the coming years according to Popular Mechanisms are glasses, stamps, batteries, keys, plasters, wallets and snow tires. Popular Mechanisms has also made a list of things that could stand the test of time. A somewhat dubious, but hilarious list of things like beer, the harmonica (?), the frisbee, drills and duct tape.
