How eCommerce and email marketing saved my honeymoon

This may seem like a sponsored story to you, but it is not in the least ; what I want to share with you in the following lines is how two tools that are used every day at Mittum and its entire business family saved me from certain failure during my honeymoon days.
You see, I have to tell you that I married my now wife very happily and safely. We had a very beautiful wedding with many guests and the full support of our families. All of this in the city of Chihuahua, in the north of Mexico.
Until the night after the wedding and before the 'departure' of our honeymoon trip, everything had gone very well: I was preparing to print the boarding passes for our college and universities email list flight to Cancun, in the Riviera Maya area of Mexico, and some time later I would take on the task of checking the last details of the reservation with the hotel. We had done all of this through a travel services agency, or at least that was what we thought.
When I looked into the details , I realized that we had no flight or hotel, and that all the 'supporting documents' previously provided to my wife had been altered by whoever our 'sales agent' was. It turned out that this guy no longer worked for the agency and had scammed us , already having paid out a large amount of money (later we would discover that we were not the only ones).
When we realized this, amidst anguish, annoyance and tears of disappointment, the situation became very tense between the two of us, and among our family who could not understand how this had happened, especially knowing that this ' agency ' had already organized a trip for my in-laws before without any problem (not on a honeymoon, but another type of trip).

The situation demanded turning over a new leaf and knowing what to do, since my days off were limited and, beyond the destination, we had to find an option that would really help us get over the bitter experience of the scam.
With calm and a little time, my wife and I began to approach the subject; I decided that my best option was to take advantage of the time we had for the honeymoon, and I turned to the type of consumption with which I really feel comfortable and safe: e-commerce.
The next morning, I decided to browse the Groupon app early and luckily I found a great all-inclusive hotel package in Cancun . After checking flight availability, supported by a meeting travel agency I work with in Mexico , I decided to click the “ Buy ” button.
Having put all the pieces together, the next day we left for Cancun and after a somewhat long trip, we arrived at our hotel to spend our honeymoon. However, the chain of pleasant electronic discoveries did not end there.
Newsletters in the love market
The next day, already in Cancun, a newsletter arrived on my cell phone with geo-localized offers within the area , in which one of them announced car rentals at a spectacular price from one of the regional car rental agencies.
The accommodation package we had purchased covered us up to one night before our return flight, so after the chat in bed we decided to take advantage of that offer and go out to explore the Riviera Maya.

That decision to purchase online , combined with the communication carried out via newsletter by Groupon, gave us the opportunity to travel on the four wheels of 'our Hyundai' from the hotel zone of Cancun to the ruins of Tulum , passing through the paradisiacal destination of Playa del Carmen, and all at a minimum cost.
From there, everything was even more grandiose, between the Mayan ruins, the bohemian streets of Quintana Roo in Mexico and a snorkeling session in the Mexican Caribbean.
A reflection to conclude my honeymoon
As I write these words, I am grateful to be in an era where industries, companies and consumers are voting in favor of the change that eCommerce and email communication have given to our lives. I feel even more grateful and fortunate to be a professional in this industry.
And perhaps, in another time and context, I would not have been able to overcome the adverse situation of my honeymoon. You know? More than money, it is the moments and opportunities that are invaluable (like your honeymoon) , and in this case, it is not often the amount to be spent that matters, but rather the creativity, the cunning and the tools to overcome an adverse situation.
If you are reading this, I hope you never find yourself in a situation like the one I experienced (nobody likes to be scammed); however, if it does happen to you (or already, if you want to anticipate it) remember that today you have the ally of large digital platforms , which often represent a better option than the old, rusty and even somewhat insecure traditional business models.
