3 main trends for tablets
Jon Mew, IAB UK, came up with interesting trends about tablets , supported by figures. The figures are for the UK, but we can say that the same trends are also happening in the Netherlands at the moment.

Trend 1: Dual screening
Devices are used simultaneously, the so-called ' second screen '. While watching TV, 77% of users use another device, mainly a tablet:

51% use a tablet;
35% a smartphone;
33% a laptop or desktop.
While in 2010 users stopped using social media during a major match (think of a football World Cup), users now start using social media when the match starts.

Trend 2: Entertainment
Users seek their entertainment primarily on tablets. 49% of users want to watch entertainment on their tablet, compared to 29% on PC and 22% on mobile.

Trend 3: Retail
Online shopping is on the rise. The figures on this will certainly appeal to online retailers. The time spent on shopping on a tablet is an average of 4:26 hours per week. On a laptop or desktop this is 2:56 hours and on mobile this is 2:12 hours. This confirms once again the rise of the new word: T-commerce. No one denies the enormous success and use of romania phone data smartphones anymore. More than half of the Dutch own a smartphone. Tablets are also emerging at a rapid pace. 30% of American adults already own a tablet. In the Netherlands, 22% of households own at least one tablet. This number will certainly increase in the near future.

However, advertising on smartphones and tablets is lagging behind. In the UK, 203 million pounds were spent on media 'ads' on mobile in 2011. This is 5% of total advertising expenditure. Admittedly, this is an increase of 157% compared to 2010, but it is strange that such a small percentage of advertising budget is spent on mobile. It is expected that by the end of 2013, more than half of all searches will be placed via a smartphone or tablet. So there are still many opportunities here.
