1. Change of Jurisdiction for NON-US Residents
From 18/5, the ownership of the processing of personal data of its users will be transferred from Twitter Inc (registered and registered in the USA) to Twitter International Company (registered and registered in Ireland).
This step therefore involves the application of Irish legislation on the processing of personal data.
Twitter therefore follows Facebook , which had already transferred its European operations to a company based in Dublin, generating rather harsh criticism on the processing of users' personal data.
2. Why Ireland?
Dublin has been working for years to canada telegram phone number list foreign investment through levers such as low taxes and facilitation for multinationals. In recent years, Ireland has adopted the most permissive privacy laws in Europe.
In this way, Twitter, by moving the rest of the world database under Irish jurisdiction, will have more freedom to manage the numerous and intrusive NSA data requests related to NON-US citizens.
Furthermore, Twitter needs to grow advertising revenue in Europe and with an American legal name it would have encountered many obstacles with European regulations.
3. Pseudonym
Other changes to Twitter's terms of service include the ability to sign up using a simple username and phone number as a contact method, and clarification on how users can share personal information about other users.
Furthermore, the changes made will also be valid for the Digits and Periscope services .
