How to use Google Ads to advertise on streaming platforms

What's new in Google Ads for video
Google advertising will now be available on TV, which means that video advertising campaigns can now be targeted by TV, in addition to device, operating system, device model, website, apps and third-party channels.

Given that more and more users are accessing multimedia content from a Smart TV, streaming television advertising represents a great opportunity for companies or brands that want to advertise their products or services and reach the largest possible audience.

New TV section
The integration of Google Ads into streaming video platforms led Google to create a section dedicated to TV in its marketplace. The aim of this new section is to enable advertisers to find the best streaming platform to promote their product or service and thus reach the most suitable audience or the one that could actually become a customer.

This section was necessary, as each platform has a target audience and, consequently, different interests in terms of consumption. In addition, the cost of an advertisement on YouTube to be seen on television screens can cost €0.01 per view.

New advertising bidding option
To make it much easier for a company or brand to start an advertising campaign on streaming platforms, Google has created “buy lists,” a new advertising bidding option.

So the idea is to find out which devices the public uses to connect to each of the streaming platforms and make sure that the advertising is visible there. This way, you will reach the type of public you want to reach.

With this in mind, Google has created lists for advertisers to find the most suitable streaming channels and pay to advertise on them . This maximises the reach of an advertising campaign and reduces costs, as not only can devices be included, but they can also be excluded.

These lists have to do with genre, popularity, seasonality, audience type and format.
