Claranet buys Star for €68 5M

Claranet has acquired STH Limited and its subsidiary StarTechnologyServices in a transaction valued at €68.5m. The business entity of both companies will be maintained and both will be wholly owned by Claranet Limited.

Charles Nasser, CEO and founder of Claranet Group, said: “From both a market and customer perspective, this is a great opportunity to bring together the expertise and resources of two great companies to offer our customers a broad portfolio of services. Our mission is to help our customers get the most out of the Internet and associated technologies; the acquisition of Star will allow us to continue to do so with greater strength.”

Following the integration of Star, the Group, which will operate under the Claranet brand, will have a turnover of over €150 million, nearly 700 employees, more than 4,500 clients and operations in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Portugal. Claranet's clients include companies such as the aeronautical consortium Airbus, Amnesty International, Veolia, Wonderbra, L'Occitane, Skoda, Total, N24 and TagHeuer.

The resulting company will have a broad portfolio of products ranging from data center services to end-user desktops . In addition to the managed hosting and networking services that both companies offer to numerous enterprises, Star customers will benefit from the award-winning VDC Virtual Data Center (IaaS – Infrastructure as a Service) infrastructure with nodes in different countries across Europe as well as managed hosting services . In addition, Star’s strength in Unified Communications, remote desktops and advanced security services will complement Claranet’s current portfolio.

In addition, Star customers will benefit from Claranet's operations in Europe as well as the financial strength and purchasing power that the resulting group will have as a result of this acquisition.
