The annual World Travel Market London 2022 (WTM) trade fair was recently held. The tourism industry is one of the most important sectors for economic and cultural growth, and this event is one of the most important for the industry.

The WGT was held at London's ExCel gcash database from 7-9 November, and enabled people in the tourism industry from around the world to meet, network and learn how to improve their businesses. More than 3,000 exhibitors from over 100 countries attended.

As well as offering networking opportunities, WTM focused on some key themes relating to the future of travel. This year’s theme was “The Future of Travel Starts Now”. This reflected how the travel industry is changing rapidly, and the urgent need for a response.

WTM sought to address how the industry should overcome the pandemic and other global emergencies. Resilience and recovery were important themes.

Sustainability is a vital issue for the tourism industry, and WTM encourages the sector and related events to become carbon neutral. The viability of space tourism was another topic of discussion.

Hotel chains, travel agencies, airlines, cruise lines, investors and others organise exhibitions in London every year. Individual visitors are also invited to attend. The event is expected to have facilitated a record number of travel deals as the sector is eager to recover from the pandemic.

Representatives of global tourism powerhouses such as Hilton and Wyndham attended, with many newcomers organising their first exhibitions.

Among the exhibitors from around the world, there are numerous exhibitors from Spain, Portugal, Latin America and the Caribbean. These countries represent the main leisure destinations and are world leaders in the sector.

WTM organised specific education events, including speed networking, and expert talk sessions on topics such as retail and sustainability.

In a normal year, the WTM in London could welcome up to 51,000 visitors. The show had to be cancelled in 2020, and in 2021 it was much smaller than usual, with only 4,000 in-person visitors. Although it is not yet expected to exceed pre-pandemic figures, the event is starting to get back to normal.

The WTM was weighed down this year by the uncertainty of the pandemic and the need for a quick recovery. In addition, tourism in Europe has been affected by the energy crisis and the war in Ukraine.

The tourism industry is one of the most important in the world, and it was also one of the sectors most affected by the pandemic. FUNIBER sponsors T-CRISIS-NAV , a European Union project that educates about tourism so that it can come back stronger than ever.

In addition, FUNIBER sponsors various tourism programs. These include the Master's Degree in Tourism Management and Consulting , as well as various specializations.
