Thankfully, Black Friday mania is behind us and tech news came thick and fast this week. Here are this week's winners and losers in tech.
In the UK, there was a blockbuster news story about a new, larger mobile special database network in the city. The approval of the planned merger between Vodafone and Three creates the UK's largest provider.
We’re not sure yet if that’s a win or a loss for anyone, but we’re not left with three providers with owned and operated spectrum in the US from the UK, where there were five before. Now there’s just EE (which was Orange and T-Mobile), O2 and this new option from Threedafone. Traditionally speaking, less competition means higher prices, but we’ll see.
Wearable tech pioneer Oura will now inform smart ring users when they are falling ill, while fans of the defunct MacBook Pro Touchbar might be encouraged by news of a new Kickstarter project that is doing very well. Sony has also warned that the benefits of AI in game development cannot come at the expense of the “human touch.”
With Max, the streaming world continued to look more like the TV landscape it was trying to replace, while on the music streaming side, major providers began publishing their 2024 roundups. Read on to find out who we named our winner and loser in tech this week.
