What is an SEO title and what is its function?

Well, you and Google, because the title is also an HTML tag that the search engine (and any other) reads to know what your page is about and decide when to show it in the SERPs.

What you should not confuse with the SEO title tag

1. The Meta title tag is not the same as the title tag in HTML

However, this meta tag is not what determines the SEO title of your page , but the <title> tag does. And consequently, the title meta tag has no effect on the positioning or the Google search results.

It's just metadata content, not required by the W3C. In Google's case, it will rarely use this information for anything... it usually doesn't even read it. If you have it in your code, I would recommend removing it to avoid any kind of weird conflicts in search engines.

So, be careful that you don't have both included and stick with just the <title> .

By the way : the og title is a meta tag, but it does not conflict with the SEO title tag of the page because it is used to define the title that you want to appear when sharing content on social networks. You will identify it like this in your source code:

2. The SEO title is not the same as the meta description
The meta description is another element that appears in the Google search results, below the SEO title. These are those extra phrases that you can read to find out more about the content of a page . Like the SEO title, it also has the objective of convincing the user to enter. The CTR (click-through rate) or percentage of clicks on your page depends on it, so it is also considered a ranking factor.
