In this article we are going to give you some key points in the form of a checklist so that your experience and that of your clients is the best possible:
Days before the webinar
Choose the platform that best suits your needs, test it and make sure it offers the basic features you need: video, audio connection via device or phone, if it supports animations in presentations, if it has a section for questions and answers, chat, screen sharing, etc.
When preparing your presentation, make sure to keep the file size as small as possible by compressing your images.
You should review the animations, check that you will launch them with a click and not automatically “with the previous one”.
You must have the presentation ready, uploaded to the platform and rehearsed at least 24 hours in advance.
If you are going to open a question and answer session, always do it in writing. It is not a good idea to open the audio to the participants.
Prepare 3 or 4 questions in case no one participates.
It is highly recommended to have a presenter who will introduce you , give you the floor, and read the audience's questions.
The day of the webinar
If you are presenting from home, ask your household members not to use the Internet during the presentation, unless they abuse the bandwidth by, for example, downloading or streaming video.
Find a neutral and quiet space , without a background that could distract attention.
Check the lighting to make sure there are no bright spots (lamps on or windows without curtains) and make sure your face is properly lit.
Remember to position the camera centered and at eye level. If necessary, use some books to prop up your laptop.
Make sure no one will enter or interrupt during the webinar. Put a sign on the door.
One hour before the webinar
Turn off, pause, or disable any applications that may be interfering or consuming bandwidth.
Make sure there are no downloads, backups, updates, etc. scheduled before or during the webinar.
Use a silent external mouse, do not use your laptop's touchpad, especially if you are using the built-in microphone or another very sensitive one, because it generates annoying background noise.
If you are going to project a video, it is preferable to have it already loaded on the platform or prepared in the player.
Don't leave your cell phone on the table without turning it off or on vibrate mode.
