Here google is a second-level domain, com is a first-level domain. In other words, our last name is a second domain, indicating belonging to a certain clan, family. And the name reflects our uniqueness in this family.
Fully qualified domain name
There are four levels of domains. The first is the domain zone. You cannot buy such domains, since they are provided by a specialized organization - ICANN. Zones, in turn, are geographical and administrative.
Geographical ones show that the site belongs to a certain country: .de — Germany, .fr — France, .jp — Japan, etc. Administrative ones reflect the focus of the site, for example: .info — informational, .travel — travel site, .mil — military resource, etc. But this division is rather arbitrary. Registration of a site with the .fr zone is quite possible in the Russian Federation.
What are second-level domains? They are registered within the above zones.
Third-level domains are located inside the second. Such addresses are usually free, and they look like this: name. second-level name. domain zone (vrn.site.ru).

Third-level domains are less common than the others. In their case, everything is the same as with the previous ones, but their address ends up being even longer (sale.vrn.site.ru).
Each second-level domain is unique. There are no two identical second domains. Let's say BLOG.RU and BLOG.COM are different domains because they are located in different first-level domains.

The case does not matter when entering domain names in the search bar. Entering google.com and google.Com will take you to the same resource. Accordingly, you will not be able to register an existing second-level domain address by changing lowercase letters to uppercase. But if you have a yandex.ru address, you can create yandex.kz. It will belong to a different domain zone. In this example, .ru and .kz are the first level, yandex is the second.
The address m.yandex.kz is the third level. Here m. is a subdomain, which usually means the mobile version of the site.
You can use both short and long domain names. There are no special differences between them. But users, of course, find it easier to remember simple and short names. For personal sites that do not strive for high traffic, as well as for forums and auxiliary resources, it is better to use subdomains (third and fourth levels).
