If you're from the Snapchat era and use Instagram DMs to send photos and videos, you already know that both social networks have the option of viewing images once.

Now, it's WhatsApp's turn to bring the option as one of its functions. Check it out.

What is Single View?
On August 3, 2021, WhatsApp users gained access to a new feature that allows them to view photos and videos once. In other words, these media can only be viewed once and disappear after the image is closed.

The feature has been available to WhatsApp Beta users since July. But now everyone has access to it.

How to use this update
When sending media via WhatsApp, you can choose to chinese america data select the icon with the number 1, surrounded by a circle. This indicates how many times the person receiving the file will be able to open it.

When you return to the conversation, the photo disappears and is replaced by the text “message opened”. The file can no longer be opened and viewed after that.

To submit a photo or video update, you need to:

Then, just send the media in the conversation.

What happens next?
According to information from WhatsApp itself, media sent as a single view is not saved in the memory of the recipient. In other words, it is not possible to save, favorite or share these images.

The only way to save these files is through screenshots taken before they disappear. However, you will not receive any notification if someone screenshots or records your phone screen.

Additionally, you will only be able to tell whether or not your contact has opened the file if read receipts are enabled for both people in the conversation. If the person does not open the file within 14 days, it will become unavailable.
