To better understand what defines Generation Y, Exponential conducted a large-scale study of 4,000,000 people. The result was a classification of 12 subgroups of millennials. Each, as Exponential Vice President Brian Melmed explains, reflects the characteristic reactions of young people to the economy, globalization, and social media.
Hopeless
Who are we talking about: people who have stockholder phone number data neither work nor prospects due to a lack of education or having a profession that has no value on the labor market.
Distinguishing features: as a rule, these are provincial men or residents of the capital's outskirts who have lost hope for a bright future.
Example: Nick Miller from New Girl (Jake Johnson), who dropped out of law school.
Comment (Bryan Melmed): "Most of them are unable to afford education. The lack of work affects their self-esteem, and there are indications that this category of millennials will eventually become marginalized."
Boss Baby
Who are we talking about: careerists with a high degree of self-confidence.
Distinguishing features: financial independence, lack of interest in romantic adventures, feminism combined with such traditionally feminine purchases as books about tasty and healthy food, dishes, and the like.
Example: Olivia Pope from Scandal (Kerry Washington).
Comment (Bryan Melmed): "The ambition of women of this type borders on aggressiveness. These are women-bosses who, before they have time to really wake up, are already boiling with their own energy, admiring their reflection, and then go about their business."
Nostalgic
Who are we talking about: all sorts of retro fashionistas and hipsters who don’t want to take responsibility for themselves and live in the present.
Distinguishing features: prefer old school in all its manifestations, have no real goals.
Example: characters from the TV series "Portlandia".
Comment (Bryan Melmed): "Nostalgia hits all millennials from time to time."
Brogrammers
Who are we talking about: "techies" - hard workers who prefer to spend their leisure time exclusively in a masculine way.
Distinguishing features: careerists with ambitions, demonstrating sexism, not without the habits of IT freaks, fond of sports and beer.
Example: Evan Spiegel, CEO of the mobile app company Snapchat.
Comment (Bryan Melmed): "Brogrammers are distinguished by their attempts to use their internal reserves to the fullest extent, mindlessly and without self-pity."

Who are we talking about: New university graduates who want to rent a place to live in the city center, but have no prerequisites for career success.
Distinguishing features: educated, independent from parents, live in friendly company in prosperous areas, have a small income from time to time.
Example: smart Hannah Horvath from Girls (Lena Dunham).
Comment (Bryan Melmed): "These people seem to be doing the right thing, but they fail to improve their difficult situation."

Who are we talking about: young people whose thoughts are all occupied with options for inexpensive travel with the goal of “seeing the world.”
Distinguishing features: the lack of large savings is more than compensated by a passion for change of scenery; they feel like cosmopolitans: they speak different languages, love an active lifestyle and sports.
Example: Nadine Sikora, host, blogger, avid traveler.
Comment (Bryan Melmed): “In today’s fast paced life, traveling is easy: all you need is a phone and the Internet.”
Culinary Explorers
Who are we talking about: connoisseurs of gastronomic delights in all their diversity.
Distinguishing features: they can’t live without exotic dishes, their “thing” is authenticity, they have money (unlike enthusiastic travelers), but no time for travel.
Example: Camille Becerra, Instagram star.
Comment (Bryan Melmed): "The food is not an end in itself, it is the experience and the overall impression of the culinary variety that matters."
Emotional Spenders
Who are we talking about: those who tirelessly create content on social networks.
Distinguishing features: an absurd passion for appearing to be someone other than who you really are, a painful addiction to selfies, a craving for everything new due to the fear of missing out on a fashion trend.
Example: self-promotional figure Tom Haverford, played by Aziz Ansari (Parks and Recreation).
Comment (Bryan Melmed): "These are the ones who take pictures and have their pictures taken every minute."
